Both our properties (Skelghyll Woods and Broad Ings) are detached and set in their own individual large grounds, they offer wonderful panoramic views of Lake Windermere and the surrounding mountains and countryside, and provide very private accommodation, with many walking routes (some literally from the doorstep!)  while still being within easy reach of Ambleside village, with it's cosmopolitan atmosphere and wide choice of cafes, bars, shops, restaurants, traditional pubs (several serving locally brewed real ales, etc) a cinema (where 'Withnail & I' premiered!) various art & craft galleries and workshops, even it's own museum!

Ambleside itself is built on the shores of Lake Windermere (England's largest lake) and guests can go rowing or take a cruise to the next village, or perhaps venture to the other side of the Lake to visit Grizedale Forest sculpture trail, or Go Ape, an adventure day in the tree tops! There's also the Aquarium of the Lakes, showcasing local aquatic wildlife, from mountain streams and local otters to Morecambe Bay and some friendly wrays, and a little further down the road why not take a trip on a genuine working steam railway, for an alternative view of the Lake District.

For the more adventurous, there are many other activities in the area, such as

 ♥horse riding & trekking, a great way to see some of the 'real' Lake District,  

♥fishing, both on the Lakes and Tarns, or in some of the well stocked Carp pools in the area, always good fun!  

♥Landboarding at Surf the Turf, recently reported in the Gazette as one of the best days out in the area

♥Off road and adventure days

Most days out and excursions can be booked or arranged for you; we can provide full adventure days, guided fishing trips, etc. obviously some notice is required for these services.

Both houses have fireplaces suitable for real fires, and coal and logs etc are supplied. We also provide televisions (compatable with most VCRs and Games systems) and DVD player, board games, and books for those indoor days in front of the fire!

 Outside the houses, both have large lawns with Bonfire and Barbeque areas, furnished with tables, chairs, and rustic benches for those summer evenings, if the weather isn't good enough for that, the indoor dining tables easily seat 18 and 20 guests together respectively.

♥ If you are having a huge get together, or perhaps a wedding celebration, why not book both houses together         (they are only 2 minutes walk apart) and accommodate around 32 guests!
