Yate Cottage is a self-contained cottage adjoining Yate House, an 18th. C. Yeoman's House built in the traditional style of the Pennines, with mullions, stone slate roof and internal beams.
Moorland scenery surrounds the village which has a rich historical and industrial heritage besides being at the heart of the Bronte country with its literary associations. There are numerous tourist attractions such as the local steam railway and various historic market towns within easy reach.
The cottage has been restored to a high standard with very comfortable accommodation comprising a double bedroom, a shower room and a large living room open to the beams and with a modern, fully-fitted kitchen at one end. This room contains a sofa bed suitable for one person. The cottage is approached from a narrow lane beside Yate House and is not suitable for wheelchair access as there are internal and external steps up to the entrance. There is a sitting-out area in the owners'garden and garden furniture is provided.
The area offers wonderful walking, besides wet weather pursuits in the form of museums such as the Bronte Parsonage and the National Museum of Photography in Bradford. There are Art Galleries in Halifax, Bradford, Settle and further afield and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park is to the south of Wakefield.
